In a rare display of remorse, Soulja Boy, also known as Draco, took to social media platform X (previously Twitter) on Wednesday, May 15, to express his regret for overstepping boundaries in his impulsive reaction to an aged taunt by Metro. “I apologize to @MetroBoomin for overreacting over an old tweet,” Soulja Boy shared, also extending his condolences to Metro’s late mother.

Soulja Boy’s noted overreaction was not an isolated incident. His history of volatile responses on social media to perceived slights reveals a pattern that dates back several years.

In 2021, Soulja Boy launched into a tirade against famed Chicago rapper, Ye, critical of the latter’s opinion on Soulja’s verse for the album ‘Donda.’ Similarly, Soulja Boy unleashed violent threats against Atlanta rapper Trouble for criticizing him over comments about Young Dolph.

The next year, Soulja Boy returned to form with a vitriolic response to a tweet from Wizkid that had originally been posted back in 2010. Amidst all these altercations, J. Cole too faced Soulja Boy’s wrath online, leading to an eventual apology from the rapper after intervention by Nicki Minaj.

The latest outburst was triggered by a decade-old tweet by Metro Boomin, which Soulja Boy stumbled upon recently. Metro’s tweet, which seemingly belittled Soulja Boy, elicited a disrespectful response targeting Metro’s late mother.

Metro Boomin has yet to respond to Soulja Boy’s apology, maintaining a notable silence amidst the drama. Fellow rapper, 21 Savage, however, promised a response that Soulja Boy wouldn’t forget soon.

While Soulja Boy has a documented history of volatile reactions to criticism or perceived slights, his latest apology to Metro Boomin indicates a potential turning point. Perhaps this incident, coupled with a public commitment to therapy and anger management, will mark a new chapter in Soulja Boy’s social media conduct – one where altercations are replaced with more productive conversations.
